In this episode, we look back and recap the following year of 2022, see what goals we hit, what goals we missed, and what our New Years Resolutions for 2023 are moving forward!

2022 was another amazing year for this channel, and I want to start by thanking everyone for their continued support of me, this channel, and my family. I truly cannot express my gratitude enough when it comes to what this community gives to us each and every day. From the 1.2 MILLION views over the last year, over 65,000 hours of content watched, or over 3,600 new subscribers, thank you all for an amazing year.

Going into 2022, I did have several goals for the channel. I wanted to surpass 20,000 subscribers, I wanted to consistently put out 3 pieces of content a week for 156 videos, and I wanted to Livestream a lot more. Well, we wound up about 1,500 subscribers short but we did reach 18,497 new followers! Regarding 156 videos, we blew that out of the water with 294 total videos uploaded! And, well, I'm still struggling to find time to Livestream.

Perhaps the biggest change to the channel in 2022 was the number of YouTube Shorts we produced. Starting in the summer, we really focused on making Shorts work on the channel, and as of October we've posted 1 YouTube Short a day every day! That's over 90 videos just in YouTube Shorts! We're not letting up on our Shorts content either, as the goal for 2023 is to produce 1 new YouTube short each and every day! That's right, we're on the road to 365 YouTube shorts for 2023! We'll we make it? We're going to try!

With the focus on creating so much content just with YouTube Shorts, I am going to cut back my regular uploading cadence from 3 times a week to 2. I am hoping this will help prevent burnout, but also allow me to make better videos as well. This will force me to be more deliberate with what I do and don't produce, and allow me to better balance work, YouTube, and family time.

I am also planning on introducing a new monthly series of videos, focusing on long-form looks at some of the best gaming franchises and characters out there. This will have some aspects of what Norm the Gaming Historian does, some of The Toys that Made Us, and my own personal thoughts. It's going to focus more on why certain franchises have endured over the years, what makes them great, how they've evolved, and possibly, why they went away. The first episode will kick off in Late January 2023 and start with one of my favorite franchises in the last 20 years, Ratchet & Clank for the Sony Playstation. We're also going to visit popular Nintendo and Microsoft franchises as well.

Another goal I have is to be able to stream more. I know, I know, that's been a constant goal for, like, ever, I get it. Part of the reason I hadn't done a lot of streaming in the past is my dissatisfaction with my gear. Well, I have a new FiFine microphone (used in this video) and I love it. I think it sounds great and for only $30 does an amazing job! I also have the new ROCWARE RC20 camera (also used in this video), and this thing is a beast! Along with my gaming monitors, my computer, internet service, and overall setup, I think I can produce decent streams everyone can enjoy. I just need to finish setting up my OBS Studio to my satisfaction and we'll be underway soon!

One of the failures I had in 2022 was attempting to launch a 2nd channel focused on my 3D printing. I just never got around to producing unique content for the channel, which is disappointing, but I have continued to produce that content on this channel. Moving forward I'll likely still post the occasional 3D print YouTube Short or story, but for now, my focus is going to be on this channel here. Thanks to those who have subscribed to RoXolid 3D Printing.

I have to thank those who, over the past year, have reached into their pockets to help financially support the channel via YouTube Channel Memberships, Patreon, Super Chats, or Super Thanks. It may not seem like much to you but having that extra revenue come in to support the channel does so much. First, we support other creators as well! That's right, we support multiple channels through Channel Memberships and Patreon ourselves! Secondly, we've been able to purchase supplies and upgrade our equipment over the year thanks to you. From digital microscopes, new microphones, cameras, lights, products for review, and more, everything we generate gets reinvested back into making content for you. Thank you for all your support!

Finally, I just want to thank you for watching and, in this case, reading our 2022 recap. The past year was amazing, and we're looking forward to even more in 2023. Let me know what you like, what you don't like, what you'd like to see, and more in the next year!
