Physical sports such as soccer require players to tackle their opponents to win the ball. During the tackling process, injuries are always bound to occur. Balls are won through aerial duels or with the legs and feet. With injuries occurring frequently, clubs must assign a physio or athletic trainer on duty at every match. These personnel are vital to the well being and safety of players. They are the first ones to be called upon when injuries happen on the pitch. The injured player is assessed first hand to determine what treatment, if any, is needed. Inexperienced players like college students might not have the necessary knowledge to tell what type of injury they are being faced with. It is up to the physio to calm the player down, determine the seriousness of the injury and whether the player can continue or not. Hence, the physio is quite the best friend of all players when they get hurt. In this video, the personal touch of the physio is truly appreciated by the all the players involved. However, the physio's job is made much easier if the player is highly resilient to painful injuries including cramp.
