How Jordanians treat foreign tourists in Amman 🇯🇴 عَمَّان‎ الأردن‎

The kid in the blue shirt insults me knowing I can't understand Arabic. This happened far more often than I'd like to say, and it makes Jordanians look bad. Most Jordanians are good people, but a few ruin it for the rest. Apparently this is a normal thing to do in some Arab countries - talk to non-Arabic speakers in a friendly way but insult them under your breath. It's happened to many. of my friends, and ruins the experience. I thought I had a great time and everybody was friendly to me. Seems I was wrong.

Amman is the first Arab city that I've visited, and I was pretty shocked when I got here as to how overly friendly the people were in Amman, but it's a real friendliness, not a fake sort of friendliness that you sometimes get as a tourist. The people here seem to genuinely want to wish me well, they want to say hello and I really appreciate it.

In this video I wander around Rainbow Street in Amman, the capital of Jordan and meet a few people, say hello to some Jordanians and then meet Djibril, a Somali guy who shows me the best view in Amman, then we go to grab some falafel sandwiches at a local cafe.

Really looking forward to the rest of my trip in Jordan. Especially if it's even half as cheerful as my first few days have been.

شعب الاردن ودود جدا

Since releasing this, the Somali guy Djibril sent me ridiculous whatsapp messages and voicemails because I decided not to go to the market with him, as a fancied going on my own, therefore, proving what some people messaged me saying that he was literally just looking for money from me. I didn't show it on camera (I do have the footage), but I bought the food, and gave him 5JD, this was all after he gave me a guilt trip whilst overlooking the view he took me too as the coins I had in my pocket weren't "enough" for him for the 2 minute walk we had been on down some stairs.

It's a shame, but it won't stop me being friendly to strangers.

I had also given his number to a few of my subscribers who were going to visit Amman, but I've since told them not to message him. A TikTok follower of mine wanted to give him a job - does not deserve the connection due to the nature of the voice messages he sent me. Not a nice guy at all.
