An Unlikely Friendship: How Two Enemy Pilots Became Lifelong Friends #ww2

In World War 2 there wasn't much room for compassion or mercy, but this inspiring story shows otherwise.

Lt. Charles Brown was commanding a USAF bomber with a 10 man crew on board when the plane was badly damaged by enemy fire. They completed their mission and were limping home when spotted by ace enemy pilot Ludwig 'Franz' Stigler. Stigler would show mercy and allowed the men to live.

40 years later Brown tracked down Stigler and the pair became best of friends.

"A Higher call" by Adam Makos was written covering the incident.
