AT OUR FEEDERS: A RARE Partially Leucistic Female Cardinal
1 year ago
15
This female northern cardinal has a rare condition called Partial Leucism. It has the ability to produce melanin and is deposited in most of the feathers but not some of them. The results are variable an result in no two cases looking the same. Although this condition is rare it is a bit more common than full leucism or even albino. We are excited to have this bird featured at our feeders! We have spotted her in the early morning, rarely in the afternoon and mostly in the evenings. Check out our livestream and see if you can spot her!
