Figure Skating and its ballet influences.

Ballet has had a huge influence on figure skating. Poise and grace with strength, skill and stamina are all on display during top competitions. While ballet was invented in the 16th century, figure skating became an Olympic sport in 1908 so it is still very much evolving. But today's skaters are just like ballerinas on ice, with Anna Shcherbakova, Adeliia Petrosian, Kamila Valieva, Alexandra Trusova, Isabeau Levito etc. all displaying ballerina-like qualities.

Figure skating has evolved, and it's ballet influences are more visible than ever.

Like ballet, figure skating perfectly blends dramatic performance, extreme flexibility & athleticism.

Alina Zagitova's mesmerising Olympic winning Carmen program was heavily influenced by ballet and classical dance. She won gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
