The World Health Organisation estimates that a staggering total of 2.3 crore people are being affected by the earthquakes in the two countries. The Turkish disaster agency has reported that 13,740 search and rescue personnel have been dispatched to quake-affected regions and an impressive amount of relief materials have been dispatched to the affected areas, including 41,000 tents, 100,000 beds and 300,000 blankets – all of which are expected to make a difference in the lives of those affected.
