This is the heroic moment rescue workers risk being crushed under tonnes of rubble to pull a survivor from a collapsed building in the Turkish earthquake.

The rescuers burrowed under smashed concrete, glass, and steel to strap a trapped woman to a stretcher.

Then - as seen in this footage - she pulled inch by inch to safety outside.

As the footage shows, the remains of the building in Adiyaman look as if they could collapse at any time, crushing whatever is underneath them.

The young woman - named by officials as Kubra Ecrin Kilinc - was taken to hospital for treatment.

At the time of reporting, works were ongoing to free those still trapped.

Newsflash obtained the footage from the Ministry of National Defence of Turkey this morning (8th February).

The ministry said: "We are with our citizens from the first moment.

"Our Engineering School Search and Rescue Teams contacted four people under the rubble in Adiyaman.

"While our young woman named Kubra Ecrin Kilinc was rescued alive, the efforts to save our other three citizens are continuing."

Adiyaman and nine more of Turkey's 81 provinces have been affected by the double earthquake of magnitudes 7.8 and 7.6 that first struck early on 6th February.

It has killed 8,574 and injured 49,133 in Turkey, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The total death toll now exceeds 11,000, with more than 2,530 dead in Syria.

World Health Organization officials have warned that it could reach 20,000.
