This is the incredible moment rescue workers pull a woman alive from the rubble of a building that collapsed on top of her in the devastating Turkish earthquake.

Footage filmed by rescue workers shows the survivor wrapped in a blanket on a stretcher as she is carried out of the flattened building.

The torchlit footage was filmed in the middle of the night on 6th February as temperatures dropped below zero.

As the stretcher-bearers pick their way carefully through the mountain of debris, other rescue workers can be seen standing ready to catch her if they stumble.

Officials did not release her name.

Newsflash obtained the footage from the Ministry of National Defence of Turkey this morning (8th February).

The ministry said: "The Search and Rescue Division of the 5th Corps Command, the Search and Rescue Division of the Engineering Regiment, pulled a female citizen alive from the rubble in Kirikhan, Hatay."

Hatay is among 10 of Turkey's 81 provinces to be affected by the double earthquake of magnitudes 7.8 and 7.6 that first struck the country early on 6th February.

It has killed 8,574 and injured 49,133 in Turkey, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The total death toll now exceeds 11,000, with more than 2,530 dead in Syria.

World Health Organization officials have warned that it could reach 20,000.
