In this episode, we share what truly shocked and excited us, the fact that the Super Mario Bros Movie Super Bowl Commercial had a real phone number and website where you can call & text the Super Mario Bros!

There's been a lot of nervous energy surrounding the Super Mario Bros animated movie from Universal and Illumination. When it was announced Jack Black would be Bowser, people were intrigued. When Chris Pratt and not Charles Martinet was announced as Mario, people were worried. Then we got the first trailer, and it looked... good! It felt right! It WAS Mario! We've since gotten additional trailers and teasers, but the one they had before the Super Bowl, well, this was full of memberberries and nostalgia, and there were some major Easter Eggs.

When I heard the music I thought his had to be a fan-made piece, I mean, it couldn't be THAT song, could it? But low and behold it was THAT song, the Mario Rap from the Super Mario Brothers Super Show! It was so perfect and wonderful to hear that song used again for Mario! It made me smile, thinking of Captain Lou Albano dancing in his red overalls. This was a great start.

Moving into the trailer, it was an actual commercial for the Mario Bros. Not the movie, the Mario Bros Plumbing Service! You even had the actress who "called" for help looking off camera to read her lines and queues, it was so good! Like, this is an animated teaser, so this all takes a lot more work and effort to do than if it were live-action, but Illumination DID THE WORK!

As I watched (and re-watched) the trailer, I saw something that I knew just couldn't be real. There was an actual URL and Phone Number on-screen to call the Mario Bros if you needed service. It had the right number of digits for a US-based phone number, and the URL looked right, but these just couldn't be real. Could they?

So I grabbed my phone and called 929-55-MARIO, and if Luigi didn't pick up! That's right, the phone number is totally legit! While I'm not a huge Charlie Day fan (nothing against him, I just never watched anything he was in that stood out) his Luigi seemed totally perfect! Not only that, but he was telling us we could not just call the Mario Bros, but Text them too! No way! So I did, and they texted back! I Signed up for their texting service and then visited their website.

The SMBPlumber.com website is amazing! It has everything a website run by plumbers would have, including broken image URLs, testimonials from "mom" and more. It's fantastic that they even had a call back to Wrecking Crew in here with Spike, who also left a review! This is out of this world and simply amazing.

I know there are concerns going into this movie, but I, for one, have loved everything I have seen Illumination do to this point. Yes, I wish it was Charles Martinet too, but I am willing to give Chris Pratt a chance. The characters look and sound right. The world feels right. This looks to be the Super Mario Bros Movie we've waited for since we first played Super Mario Bros on the NES. I admit I am setting myself up for a huge disappointment here, but my expectations are very high right now, and details like this commercial, phone number, and website just add to my excitement. The last time I was this excited for a movie was for Force Awakens, and that was just garbage. Please, Illumination and Nintendo, I love Minions, Secret Life of Pets, and Despicable Me. Please, make this as good as those and I'll be thrilled!
