Moving Chicken Coops & Improving Chicken Run

The last day of our friend's visit we moved the last two chicken coops. We are putting them in the large chicken run which will be expanded to extend around the entire meadow.

We now have nearly 40 chickens due to a couple gifts to us recently. So we have to move the chicken coops from the meadow over to the chicken run.

We had to open up the chicken fence and disable and remove the electric fence wires so that we could get the chicken coop into the run.

I have an old trailer that I hooked up to the truck. We used this trailer to haul the chicken coop over to the run. Some man power got the chicken coop into place.

Now our hens will have more space to lay their eggs.

The old chicken tractor was to be next but sadly its framing is getting weak with age. We have decided to simply cut the chicken house off the frame of the chicken tractor and put that in with the birds. But we will do that later.

Our friends had to leave us so we parted ways and said our good byes.

Thank you very much for your help out here at The Off Grid Project.

Later I put everything back together and improved the chicken electric fence around the gate. I have some special chain link fence isolators for this purpose.

Now the gate is properly wired and protected from predators.
