Mega Homestead Make Over ~ Nearly Finished Cleaning Up

This week we are completing the clean up of the off grid homestead. When we are finished the entire homestead will be neat and beautiful. All three of us are hard at work this week on the job.

We cleaned up behind and around the Jeep first in the morning hours. Melanie has been raking up leaves the whole time when she is not helping to haul stuff to their proper places.

When I first moved to this property it was a dump. There was garbage and junk all over the place. Plus I started to build my off grid tiny house on wheels myself using mostly recycled materials.

The place became a dump and a construction zone. Well, a construction zone is never neat and when you are using recycled materials it is especially messy.

Now that the tiny house is nearing completion it is time to clean up the property and put everything away. Any unused construction materials that I will not need get disposed of. Any materials that I still need are going neatly onto pallets behind the goat pen. This will put them out of sight of the off grid tiny house on wheels.

We cleaned up the entire front yard by the Jeep and the tiny house. Now when someone drives in all they see is a clear area. I will start parking the truck up by the tiny home from now on.

Next we moved to the side yard out by the goat pen and the wood shop. There were piles of wood and construction materials all over the place.

My goal was to have all the pallets and the wood out of sight of the tiny house and the front yard by the end of the day. It was a big job but we all pitched in and got the job done.

I even managed to take some time to get a new chain for the chain saw and cut some logs out of the trees we recently dropped. We left the old chain to be sharpened professionally as well.

The saw cuts like a knife through butter now with the new chain. I cut the really thick trees with ease.

We got all the pallets out of sight behind the goat pen. We also moved the wood piles out of sight and put it all neatly on pallets out of sight.

Some of the pallet wood and nicer boards will still be used inside the off grid tiny house on wheels this winter to finish the walls in the bathroom and kitchen. Plus I still have to make the doors on the kitchen cabinets this winter.

Melanie was raking up decomposed and partly composted dirt and leaves and putting them into her herb and flower beds to give the plants a nice warm layer of protection for the coming winter.

With all hands on deck we did accomplish my goal. We all felt very good about the day and the progress we made. Everyone felt especially good when I told them that we were going out for pizza in thanks for all the hard work we all did this day.

Later in the evening, back home in the tiny house, Melanie was putting away some groceries as I worked on this video.
