Melanie Turning Her Popup Camper Into Hard Side Camper

Melanie wanted to work on her own camper and restore the sides. This was a mouse eaten popup camper which Melanie is turning into a hard side camper.

She spent the previous day cleaning out the camper. It has two hard sides and had two canvas sides. The canvas was long gone. Melanie cleaned and sanitized every surface of her new camper and then loaded her craft materials into it.

Now that Melanie knows how to use the power tools she wants to do the work herself on her own camper.

I assisted in showing how to hold the tools and on the measurements of the plywood.

We carried the plywood over together. I had two 4x8 sheets of plywood someone gave me recently and that was the perfect fit for the job.

Melanie measured and marked the board for cutting. I made the long cut though because she was not familiar with this type of cutting and did not feel safe with it.

Together we put up the long board on the open side of the camper and Melanie screwed it into place after I made sure it was centered properly.

We managed to get all the holes closed in with plywood on this day.

Life goes on at the homestead though and there are chores in the mean time.

We have goats to milk. Chickens and turkeys to feed. Cats to care for.

And there are many other chores on the homestead which take our time.

Chris received a gift today from YouTuber MollyDolly. Chris says thank you for the very nice gift.

Melanie took a few minutes break inside the tiny house on wheels today and put up some decorations. We have some little shelves under the loft where the boards overlap. This gives us the perfect place for little decorations. Melanie has a bunch of antique porcelain and silver items which she is putting up there. I had these from my house cleanout days.

Melanie took the seat cushions that I was given for the Jeep and claimed them for herself for her new camper. She is leaving me with the ones that came with the popup camper. She prefers the brown color of these ones.

I was hoping to get the sheet metal on the sides already but time ran out on us.

The chickens are staying in their new home. We call it Birdcatraz 2.0 and there is no escape now. We put up deer netting over the top to prevent the birds from escaping out the top. They were using the tree stumps as jump off points and escaping over the top of the chicken wire fence.

Chris and I had nailed upright boards on the stumps and then put deer netting over the top. This prevents the birds from escaping.
