Meanwhile, in Moldova, in the first reading, they adopted a bill on the official renaming of the Moldovan language into Romanian.
Now Moldavian language is very similar to Romanian, its not like Portughese and Spanish its much more close. There are some Moldavian words but the language most of itself is Romanian.
Now, the Moldovians as a country are still a country they changed the name to gain protection from Romania knowing one country will offer protection the other not (Russia or Ukraine) in case of a war. Changing the language into Romanian also means more Moldavians can benefit of Romanian Citisenship and if needed come to Romania for protection. With double citisenship Moldavians are members of the EU and NATO and will not need a VISA to enter Romania as it is now for the Moldavians that dont have double citisenship. Also Romania doesnt want to forcefully incorporate Moldova and in general its not practical to unite the countries, for economic reasons. At this point its more Moldavians that want the country to be part of a Greater Romania than Romanians who want to risk taking the teritory of the sovereign state Moldavia under the protection of NATO.
The relationship between Moldavia and Romania is a good example how things can be solved via diplolacy not war. Indeed the Moldovians are check mated now since they dont have anyone to turn to except Romania for energetic security, food security, weapons...Moldova also doesnt have a port directly to the Black Sea which is a geostrategical disadvantage. Historically Moldova was also supported by Poland which can also offer asistence and has declared they want to, but for immediate purposes and practical ones: that is Energy for example, Moldovia is now dependent on Romania.
The problem in Romania now is that Romania has energetic potential but only for the citisens of its own country basically not for a few million extra Moldavians. Deals with Azerbaigian for Gas were made via new pipes and also with Greece and Bulgaria via the Balkan Gas pipe so Moldova was helped this year to compensate for the rising prices from Russia. The problem of Moldova is that all of their hidropowered plants are in Transnistria which is occupied by Russia, Moldova has very little energy or gas production on its own and most of its PIB is made by citisens who work outside Moldova, 25%.
In short, Moldova needs to quickly make steps for integration in EU which would bring more money and energy projects which the country does with the help of Romania. The short problem of the country is the energy though and no immediate solutions are possible, except to be dependent on Romania.
