Profit From the Past is a weekly series that examines historical events and the opportunity they provide to us today, usually in the stock market. Every Wednesday host Jason Simpkins will discuss a different piece of history on (or around) its anniversary, and how it has created an investment opportunity for us today.

On August 31, 1956 Tsai Ing-wen, was born to a mechanic and housewife in Taipei. The youngest of 11 children, Tsai would grow up to be a legal scholar, a professor, and the first female president of Taiwan.

During her time in office Tsai has been a fierce and steadfast advocate of Taiwan’s independence from China.nShe was named one of Time’s most influential people of 2020, was No. 9 on Forbes's list of most powerful women, and No. 2 on the magazine’s list of influential female politicians after Kamala Harris in 2021.

Of course, Tsai’s progressive policies, and her arms deals with the U.S., have infuriated China and increased the likelihood of a regional military conflict. No doubt, the threat of a massive, global military confrontation is as real as it’s been since World War II.

That’s why Jason Simpkins has established an entire investment service based on cutting-edge military technologies that will determine that conflict’s outcome. Learn more about Jason's service, Wall Street's Proving Grounds, right here: https://www.outsiderclub.com/pubs-detailed/wspg
