The United States is facing a major problem in today's legalization and decriminalization of cannabis. Many people l, especially those like myself excited to see the war On this therapeutic Plant stopped, many are missing the Catch 22 the Government is hiding right in front of our faces. People like myself did not even consider this issue when I obtained my medicinal cannabis card, and the Doctor surely never mentioned it to me. Your Literally paying to Forgo your right to defend yourself given to every American under the Bill oF Rights Second Ammendment.
In the United States, any possession of a schedule I substance is illegal, this any person who can be shown to have done so illegally, you forgo your right to a bang stick. Other scheduled Substances as well but let's deal with schedule 1. Therefore when you sign the papers for your cannabis card your agreeing to forego your right to bear arms, again to the ignorance of most who obtain their card.
Now to understand what is happening here, we must break down the legislation of substances in the United States. The FDA, Food and Drug Administration & the DEA Drug Enforcement Administration work hand in hand to keep cannabis seen by the public eye as a substance to cause societal problems and individual addictive narcotic like behavior. Even the FDAs explanation of cannabis and why it's Scheduled One, is because It Has No therapeutic Medicinal value AND has a high tendency for abuse and Dependency, marked by Mostly physiological neurological changes due to long term use of a substance.
This is Not Cannabis in any way shape or form.
Cannabis does not cause physical Dependence, it does not cause the type of tolerance that is suggested by coupling the plant with schedule one narcotics that so cause these issues like Heroin & Methamphetamine. In addition Cannabis Does have a plethora of medical therapeutic benefits. Many of these benefits the FDA has already created pharmaceuticals based on the natural medicine, like when the FDA rode the coat tails of the Stanley Brothers the production of EPIDIOLEX, all the while preventing researchers from even knowing when they would be able to study the cannabis made legal for medicinal use in 1999.
Not only did the FDA and DEA work hand and hand but they both refused to even answer the research team of Dr Lyle Cracker, for 20 years while states continue to medicinally decriminalize and/or legalize & recreationally decriminalize / legalize cannabis.
In addition, in 2017 the FDA created the Cannabidiol (CBD) pharmaceutical which they were led to by the illicit development of The Stanley Brothers Charolettes Web Cannabis. This was the first actual MEDICINAL Cannabis imo as It focused on depleting the psychoactive compound while amplifying the CBD, later found to be an essential cure all for the horrid seizures that are a symptom of Childhood Epilepsy, specifically for childhood epilepsy.
Not only does the Government stick their foot to mouth here, but they have done so for decades prior to even California passing Proposition 215 (1996) (not to be confused with prop 64 which legalized cannabis totally in California) in the production of the THC oriented Dronibinol aka Marinol. The argument that believe it or not was bought by society, was that ...."well this is scientifically developed synthetic cannabinoids, not that hippy stuff they smoke".
A few states have began addressing the issue of States Forgoing citizens Second Ammendment rights. Montana is one of those states, ironically it is the conservative states seeking to protect the rights of cannabis card holders in their right to bear arms. This entire idea has Nothing to do with the legislation of Being in possession of a Scheduled Substance inferring that the problem is to avoid societal issues, the issue is that pot smokers are seen as criminals. Not until this new cannabis legislation started taking hold with the legalization of Cannabis In Colorado on November 7, 2000 with a passage of just over half the votes were anyone except Criminals dealing with these 2nd amendment laws. Real Criminals, not cannabis card holders which the Federal government turns into a criminal using semantics.
In my expert Cannabis Communication Opinion This is nothing more than the perpetuation of prohibition mindset.
