Eyeglass Store Burglaries in Antioch: Suspect Arrested
The Antioch Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect who allegedly burglarized two optometry businesses in the city. According to reports, Garret Louie Optometry and Eye to Eye Optometry were both burglarized on Friday night. The suspect shattered the windows to enter the establishments and filled bags up with glasses before fleeing the scene.
Police added extra watches around optometrist offices in the city, including Diablo Valley Optometric Group. As police were watching the business, the same suspect arrived and shattered a window to enter. However, officers attempted to contact him as he was inside, and he fled the scene.
Fortunately, the suspect was caught nearby, and his vehicle was found in a Walmart parking lot. The police found the stolen glasses from the other two businesses inside. He was arrested for charges related to burglary and resisting arrest before being booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of security measures for businesses, especially those that are vulnerable to theft. Optometry businesses and eyeglass stores may be targeted for their valuable inventory, making them prime targets for burglaries. Business owners should consider investing in proper security systems, such as alarms, cameras, and reinforced windows and doors, to prevent or deter potential burglars.
In addition to these security measures, it is also essential to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement immediately. The prompt response of the Antioch Police Department and their vigilance in monitoring optometry businesses in the area likely played a critical role in the apprehension of the suspect.
Overall, the arrest of the suspect responsible for the eyeglass store burglaries in Antioch is a victory for the community and the businesses affected by the crime. By taking steps to improve security and promptly reporting suspicious activity, business owners and citizens can work together to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
