Pete Brewton and David Armstrong's investigations revealed the extensive connections between George Bush, his sons, and the Savings and Loan (S&L) crisis that occurred in the 1980s. The S&L crisis was one of the largest financial scandals in American history, which resulted in the collapse of numerous savings and loan associations and the loss of billions of dollars in taxpayer money.

Brewton and Armstrong uncovered evidence that George Bush, both as Vice President and later as President, had close ties to some of the individuals and institutions involved in the S&L scandal. They also found evidence that members of Bush's family, including his sons Jeb and Neil, had benefited from their involvement in the scandal.

In addition to the S&L crisis, Brewton and Armstrong's investigations uncovered connections between the Bush family and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) scandal, and various other shady dealings involving their oil companies.

The BCCI scandal was a major financial scandal that involved a global network of banks that engaged in money laundering, bribery, and other illegal activities. The scandal implicated numerous politicians, businessmen, and intelligence agencies, including the CIA. Brewton and Armstrong's investigations revealed that members of the Bush family, including George H.W. Bush, had connections to BCCI and had potentially benefited from their involvement with the bank.

Brewton and Armstrong's investigations into the Bush family's business dealings and political connections shed light on the corrupt and shady practices that have been pervasive in American politics for decades. Their work serves as a reminder of the importance of investigative journalism and the need for transparency and accountability in government and business.

The Bush family is an American dynastic family that is prominent in the fields of American politics, news, sports, entertainment, and business. They were the first family of the United States from 1989 to 1993 and again from 2001 to 2009, and was also the second family of the United States from 1981 to 1989, when George H. W. Bush was vice president. The Bush family is one of four families to have produced two presidents of the United States by the same surname; the others were the Adams, Roosevelt, and Harrison families.

Best known for their involvement in politics, family members have held various national and state offices spanning across four generations, including that of U.S. senator (Prescott Bush); governor (Jeb Bush and George W. Bush); and president (George H. W. Bush, who had previously served as vice president, and George W. Bush). Other family members include a National Football League (NFL) executive (Joe Ellis) and two nationally known television personalities (Billy Bush and Jenna Bush Hager).

Biographer Peter Schweizer has described the Bushes as "the most successful political dynasty in American history". The Bush family is of English descent.[1] The Bush family traces its English origin to the 17th century, with Samuel Bush being their first American-born ancestor, in 1647.
