SYNOPSIS…

PART 1
Once upon a time Jessica Leia read an essay … and then wrote this month’s song “The Ultimate Invasion”. She tells you all about it in her monologue in PART 1 of this month’s episode on “Me and My Song”. Jessica mentions how she was quick to do a recording of this month’s song after she wrote it nearly 20 years ago because she was so certain that the subject matter would be irrelevant within a few years of writing it since she was quite certain humanity would be SO evolved by then… Well, maybe that was a bit naïve. Because it ends up, the subject matter within this month’s song “The Ultimate Invasion” is just as pertinent – if not more pertinent – now, as it ever was.

This month’s monologue is a discussion on how, mayhaps, not only our society at large, but indeed, our very own imaginations have been hijacked by a system that is, in and of itself, a mental disease. Postulating that part of said disease is being so pre-occupied with the outside world that we don’t even notice the disease at all, Jessica Leia suggests that our imaginations are the way to go if we want to truly navigate ourselves and our realities in ways that help us to truly know what is good for us and what is not. For example, if you imagine things like eating poop and it seems like the wrong thing to do, that’s probably because it IS the wrong thing to do. Ok, maybe you already knew that, but what about using your imagination for more serious matters such as reaching into the intangible and into the realm of possibilities? That can lead you to feeling responses which help you to make intuitive decisions about the best route to take. What if, by chance, that same said imagination was, however, hi-jacked by some unseen force? What if you were actually being bullied inside of your very own imagination? Well, that would be something you would definitely want to do something about… But, “What?”, you say? … <insert shrugging shoulder emoji here> … Maybe you could use your imagination and figure it out.

Song Description:
Enjoy some nice chunky funky chords on piano, mischievous guitar and a sneaky bass line - all made cohesive in this playful yet provocative song: “The Ultimate Invasion”. With an awesome industrial sound, “The Ultimate Invasion” keeps a robotic, funky and mechanical feeling beat, as if to mimic the societal machine of which the lyrics speak. A machine that has colonized our brains and rages on as we are commodified and ravished by it.

Lyrics….
The Ultimate Invasion

Verse 1
Do we realize our brains are being colonized, while we’re singing commercials and eating our fries?
Of course we should… but probly not.
How can we hear our brains scream
drowned out by the mainstream
lost behind the smokescreen
of pretty teens and GO TEAM!?
Well, we can’t … Our circuits are way too hot.

Verse 2
Do we mind if the profits cost our dignity, while we’re sipping our lattes and watching TV?
Of course we don’t… Hey, how many channels you got?!
So we’re caught up in a strange dream
of always needing some thing
big truck, big screen
biggest freakin’ diamond ring
You’re not who you are … you’re what you bought.

Chorus 1
Oh, oh it’s the ultimate invasion.
Aha, raping our imagination
Oh, ho and the powers of persuasion have convinced us we’re too busy
and our soma makes us dizzy
So now who’s gonna redesign the world?

Verse 3
All the “have-nots” are in trouble for subversion, because all the “haves” are relying on coercion:
sayin, “You know you’re only poor, because you haven’t worked hard enough.”
But can you hear the sages
who are locked up in their cages
while this cruel machine just rages
like the dark, dark ages?
If there is a God … I hope It calls our bluff.

Chorus 2
Oh, oh it’s the ultimate invasion.
Aha, raping our imagination
Oh, ho and the powers of persuasion have convinced us we’re too busy
and our Prozac makes us dizzy
So now who’s gonna redesign the world?

Bridge
Can we all really have it all?
Anh, forget about it, let’s go down to the mall!
Is it something that I really need?
Anh, who cares? It’s ‘buy one get one free’!

Chorus 3
Oh, oh our identity’s established.
Aha, we are commodified and ravished.
Oh, oh and the planet is collapsing.
Aha, while the CEO’s are laughing.
They’re so glad we’re busy and that our Zoloft makes us dizzy
Now look who’s gonna redesign the world?

End
Buy it! Buy it! Vroom! Vroom! Eat! Eat! Consume! Consume! (x4)
