Stories of Allied prisoners of war in Germany, or in Japanese camps in South East Asia, are well told and have been the subjects of countless books, movies, and TV shows over the years. But for the many thousands of POWs held in Italian camps, often brutalised by their fascist guards, their stories are almost forgotten.
