Would mandatory quarantine work in the United States to prevent the spread of the coronavirus? What would a mandatory 30-day lockdown, a martial-law-style shutdown of our country do? Would it work? Given the 14-day incubation period and the super spreadability of this, it might. Martial law was last used nationwide in the United States by Abraham Lincoln to restore order after riots. It hasn't been used since except for local emergencies. Martial law is much stricter than shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders.
