Danny (Paul Rudd) and Augie (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) are two unlikely friends. Danny is a washed-up energy drink salesman, while Augie is a socially awkward teenager who loves LARPing (Live Action Role Playing). When Danny is forced to do community service at a LARPing camp, he is paired with Augie. The two of them quickly bond over their shared love of fantasy, and they soon form their own LARPing kingdom, Kiss-My-Anthia.

One day, Augie is challenged to a duel by King Argotron (Ken Jeong), the leader of the rival LARPing kingdom, Dragonia. Augie is quickly defeated, and he is banished from Kiss-My-Anthia. Danny and Augie are determined to get revenge on King Argotron, and they set out to win the LARPing championship.

Along the way, Danny and Augie learn a lot about each other and about themselves. They learn to work together, to trust each other, and to believe in themselves. In the end, they are able to defeat King Argotron and win the championship. But more importantly, they have found a new friend in each other.
