Chip Steele, a fifth generation Texan, brings his story to the table of a music career now spanning over 4 decades. A descendant of Alphonso Steele, the last surviving Texian solider that fought at the Battle of San Jacinto, Chip Steele has established himself as a well respected singer/songwriter, bass player, as well as a record producer, and sound engineer.

Chip was born in Waco, and raised in Itasca, where he would often hear Tommy Alverson and the Boot Hill Band rehearsing in the back of Tommy's uncles barber shop in downtown Itasca. "Tommy's music would be reverberating off all of the down town buildings in Itasca when they rehearsed. I was there." -Chip Steele

So. The question is.... Who is Chip Steele? An old road musician? Perhaps. Although Chip has played at numerous State Fairs, Arena's, Dance Halls, and your local Beer Joints across this great land we call America. His list also includes; Billy Bobs in Ft. Worth TX, the Grizzly Rose in Denver CO, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the PRCA Championship in Las Vegas NV, as well as The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN.

Chip has worked with, Hank Thompson, Gene Watson, Sonny Burgess, Mack Abernathy, Johnny Harra, Bobby G. Rice, Jay Johnson and the legendary Kelly G. Yager just to name a few. Chip's first album, Pickin' Tyler Roses, was an album consisting of songs written by his dad and him. Tracks on the album include; Tyler Roses, Tailgate Party, and Cherokee Rose. The Texas Underground album includes the first cut of the fan favorite song, Cheers! And on the album, Total Strangers, is the song, Slamin-Jamin. A song Chip wrote about a local biker bar in Lakeside Village TX. But as of more recently, Chip has released, The Last Hero. A poem written in 1911 by Jake H. Harrison, as a tribute to Chip's great great great grandfather, Alphonso Steele.

Currently Chip is the bass player and backup singer for The World Famous WellerTones. Good times, good friends, and great memories. "I expect the good Lord will let me take my memories with me." -Chip Steele
