Alan Wake is an action-adventure video game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Game Studios, released for Xbox 360 in 2010 and released for Microsoft Windows in 2012. The plot revolves around Alan Wake, a bestselling horror writer psychological, trying to uncover the mysteries behind his wife's disappearance while on vacation in a small town called Bright Falls, Washington, where he experiences the events of his last book that he doesn't remember writing. The character of Alan Wake was modeled after Ilkka Villi and voiced by Matthew Porretta in the English version.

In addition to the game itself, which is divided into 6 episodes like the TV series, the game's story is continued with two more special episodes, available via downloadable content, called "The Signal" and "The Writer". A book series and six episodes of a live-action web series called Bright Falls expand on the Alan Wake universe and were used as marketing for the game.

"Alan Wake Remastered is the graphics-enhanced version of the original game released in 2010. We will offer the full Alan Wake experience, including the two story expansions, The Signal and The Writer, originally released as DLCs, with a new look in 4K, updated environments and scenes, and an unpublished making-of commented in which I talk about my memories with the game", appears in a publication on the official PlayStation website, the remaster of Alan Wake was released on October 5 for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Remedy Entertainment is known for creating the Max Payne series (2001), and its sequel, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003). Written by Sam Lake, Alan Wake is the studio's first game since Max Payne 2, and took 5 years to create; a very unusual time for game development. The game was critically acclaimed, and is revered for its storytelling, pacing, and atmosphere. Alan Wake was awarded the number one spot in Time magazine's "Top 10 Video Game Games of 2010".
