Not all German soldiers in World War II were created equal. Some were the bloodthirsty monsters we often imagine, others had empathy for their enemies. The latter were the types of soldiers British SAS paratrooper Quentin Hughes found himself forging friendships with during his time at a German hospital in Italy. So strong were these friendships that the German soldiers helped him escape certain death at the hands of the Gestapo. This is that incredible story.
