If you want to know how to make mutton snapper soup then the first thing you need to do is to catch a mutton snapper. This fish soup recipe will work with any fish in general. Any snapper would be good fish for fish soup.

In this case we catch mutton snapper off key largo on the reefs edge. You can catch mutton snapper all over Florida, the Florida keys is full of mutton snapper and the snapper fishing is thriving!

I use squid and the lip candy jig bottom fishing in 140ft to catch the mutton snapper here in Key Largo fishing. Now that we have the mutton snapper for the fish soup it's time to get this catch and cook on the road!

Catch Clean Cook here we go!

To make fish soup cut the fillets off the mutton snapper. Take the mutton snapper carcass and remove the gills and guts from the carcass.

Step 1: Make a fish broth with the snapper carcass.

Put the whole fish carcass in boiling water and seasonings to your taste. Boil for 1 hour and then strain out all the skin, meat and bones. Leaving you with the best homemade fish stock! Or fish broth!

Step 2: Add snapper fillets and vegetables to the fish broth

Boil for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes and fish is cooked. I suggest starting the potatoes first since they take longer to boil than the mutton snapper.
