Spearfishing Key Largo

Finally we have a nice day here in south florida. There's some thunderstorms over miami but forecast shows it's a good day for some Spearfishing in Key Largo.
In the upper keys you have to be 3 miles from the mainland in order to be allowed to spearfish so this is usually how far we'll run out. Sometimes further when we want to spearfish in deeper water at the reef edge.

My favorite spot for spearfishing so far has been between Tavernier key and Rodriguez key. I will drive out to the 3 mile mark and then start looking for coral heads and/or rocky bottom. Once I find some we will anchor upcurrent from it and put out a chum bag for 15-20 minutes before getting into the water. This lets the fish gather behind the boat.

On this trip spearfishing key largo we shoot grouper, hog fish, mutton snapper, trigger fish and a cero mackeral. We also encountered a large nurse shark, stingray and other cool sea creatures. Key Largo has a reef full of life and it's always an adventure out here. Whether you are here to spearfish or just free dive you are bound to find some amazing fish at the patch reefs.

And who says girls can't shoot?! I got some great footage of Beata shooting some fish and she handles them like a boss.
The florida keys provide some awesome spearfishing reefs. If you ever plan a trip down to south florida and need some advice on where to go feel free to ask and i'll help you out!
