San Juan Capistrano - Firefighters responded to the area of the Trabuco Creek Trail at Oso Road for a Large Animal Rescue call at 10:31 this morning. Engine 7 firefighters and our Technical Rescue Teams found Sobe, a 25 year old horse, on the ground and wedged in a confined area. Crews worked with a veterinarian and staff to get the horse out - after an initial attempt to get him up it was determined that a helicopter extraction was needed. Our Technical Rescue Firefighters, trained for rescues like this, prepared Sobe for the extraction. The rescue was successful, and he was examined by staff at nearby Shea Center. We are happy to report that Sobe is up on his own!
