I have to say, the Ring Video Doorbell has been quite disappointing in terms of its wifi connection. Initially, it worked fine for a couple of days, but then it suddenly stopped recording and couldnt connect to the live view feature.
I had to go through the hassle of resetting its wifi connection by pressing the orange button on the back. To my relief, the doorbell started working again for another day, but then the same issue occurred.
Instead of going through the reset process again, I decided to unplug my modem/router, hoping that it would reset everything and establish a stable connection with the doorbell.
Surprisingly, it worked, but only for a short period of time. By nighttime, the connection was lost once again. I didnt want to give up, so I dug into my wireless router settings to investigate the problem.
To my surprise, the Ring doorbell was actually showing as connected to the wifi network, but it still couldnt transmit live video or send motion alerts.
Frustrated, I logged into my router and started tweaking various settings, even changing the wifi channel. While these attempts would temporarily solve the issue and reconnect the doorbell, it would inevitably stop working again after a few hours.
Now, let me clarify that Im not an expert when it comes to wifi connections or routers, but I did my best to troubleshoot the problems.
Despite my efforts, the doorbell simply refused to transmit any sort of video, even though it was technically connected to the wifi network. Its been a constant battle to keep the doorbell functioning properly, and its quite frustrating.
However, I must mention that when the Ring Video Doorbell does work, it has some impressive features. The 1080p HD video quality provides clear and detailed footage, which is essential for recognizing faces or capturing important details.
The improved motion detection is another positive aspect because it ensures that any movement near the door is detected and recorded accurately. In terms of installation, the Ring Video Doorbell is relatively easy to set up.
It comes with a step-by-step guide that simplifies the process, allowing even those with limited technical knowledge to install it successfully. The sleek satin nickel finish adds a touch of elegance to the doorbell, blending well with different home exteriors.
Despite its flaws, the Ring Video Doorbell does have the potential to be an excellent choice for enhancing home security.
If Ring could improve the stability of its wifi connection and address the transmission issue, it would undoubtedly become a top-notch product. Until then, however, I will continue to struggle with the doorbells unreliable performance.
