Anemone Eruption

An anemone eruption refers to a sudden and explosive release of nematocysts (stinging cells) found in the tentacles of certain species of sea anemones. These nematocysts are used for defense and capturing prey. When stimulated by external factors such as touch or prey contact, the anemone's nematocysts rapidly discharge venom-filled harpoon-like threads, which can cause paralysis or death to their target. An anemone eruption can occur when the anemone is disturbed or feels threatened, leading to a widespread discharge of nematocysts.
