Ready to take on the wonderful world of chickens and essential oils? Ann and I will walk you through using EOs around your homestead, specifically with poultry. We'll talk about using them on chickens, around chickens, and in the chicken coop!

Best essential oils to keep on hand for poultry
Oregano, Breathe blend, Thyme, Melaleuca, Helichrysum, Lavender

Melissa Oil is a big chicken keeping EO (anti septic, antibacterial, antiviral)

Cuts and Scrapes -- lavender, tea tree, oregano, helichrysum (until skin begins closing and healing)

Bumble Foot -- tea tree, oregano, lavender (until symptoms improve)

Sour Crop -- peppermint, digestzen (1-2 times a day)

Runny Poop -- digestzen, onguard (1-2 times a day)

HERBAL COOP FRESHENER
6 drops tea tree
6 drops lemongrass
8 drops oregano
2 drops clove
3 drops sage
Water
Witch Hazel
16 oz. glass spray bottle

Fill up spray bottle a little less than ¾ of the way with water. Then add 1 part witch hazel, leaving room to add essential oils.
Add essential oils to bottle, shake well to combine. Shake before each use. Store in a temperature controlled area.

Herbal Antibacterial Ointment
3 oz calendula infused oil
.5 oz beeswax
10 drops tea tree essential oil
10 drops oregano essential oil
10 drops vitamin E oil
1 tbsp manuka honey

Method:
In a double boiler, melt together the calendula infused oil and beeswax.
Turn heat off and add essential oils, Vitamin E oil, and raw honey.
Quickly pour your salve into tins or a jar. Allow to cool completely, then cap, label, and store for up to 1 year. You can whip the ointment with a whisk or immersion blender if you’d like, but it’s not a hard salve, so it works well either way.
