The Tiger Lily, scientifically known as Lilium lancifolium, is a striking perennial plant known for its vibrant orange flowers speckled with dark spots, resembling the markings of a tiger. Native to parts of Asia, this plant has been naturalized in North America. The flowers typically bloom in mid to late summer, with curved petals and prominent stamens. Tiger Lilies can grow up to four feet tall and are often used as ornamental plants in gardens due to their striking appearance. In most regions, Tiger Lily bulbs are best planted in the spring, after the last frost, when the soil is workable. In milder climates, you can also plant them in early fall, giving them enough time to establish roots before winter. Plant the bulbs about 5 inches deep and 10 inches apart to give them room to grow.
