A full schedule is now available for when you should expect your stimulus direct deposit or stimulus check. All single filers should receive a paper check by June 26th and Head of Households by July 24th. Married filing jointly filers should receive their checks along with others who’s information isn’t available for direct deposit with the IRS by September 11, 2020. Obviously the fastest way is to use the portal, unless of course, the IRS portal isn’t working and is giving an error message like “Payment status not available” or “Unable to determine eligibility,” it which case its highly advisable to get a copy of your IRS 1040 and make sure your information is exactly accurate: address, numbers, dashes, everything. Try variants. SSI, SSDI, social security retirement, railroad benefits should use the non-filers portal if they have children. Otherwise your stimulus check will arrive like your current payments arrive.

Why did my direct deposit change to mailed check with the IRS? Sadly, why doesn’t so much matter - once it flips, you’re receiving a paper check. This usually happens when your bank rejects the deposit information (names don’t match correctly, joint deposits are going to a single account, or information was wrong).
