In the early 19th century, George "Beau" Brummell was a dandy and favourite of the Prince of Wales and famous for attention to his dress and personal hygiene. After a rift with the Prince however, and to escape his creditors, Brummell fled in 1816 to France, where he lived out his life in inceasing poverty, until he died in 1840 in a lunatic asylum. This play imagines Brummell's life in exile.
