Barbie has been teaching young girls that they can be anything since her creation in 1959. Barbie has had over 200 careers, many chosen specifically to provide a positive role model for young girls in careers where women are underrepresented. Astronaut Barbie was one of the very first ‘career’ Barbies in 1965, alongside Executive Barbie, Fashion Editor Barbie and Student Teacher Barbie.

When the 50th anniversary of the moon landing came around last year, we partnered with Mattel and STEM Camp in Canada to celebrate the event by launching Astronaut Barbie into space over Toronto. Hundreds of young girls took part in the historic launch, as well as meeting engineers and learning about careers in STEM fields.

Women have played a huge part in the history of flight and space travel, but until recently their contributions have been downplayed or outright ignored. Films like “Hidden Figures” have helped to raise awareness of their the vital role played by black, female engineers and mathematicians in the early days of NASA.

We were thrilled to work with Mattel to help inspire the young women of Canada to pursue careers in STEM fields. Educational launches are a huge part of our work; visit https://www.sentintospace.com/educati... to find out about our Classtronauts educational program and launch your very own space launch from your school!

Sent Into Space are the Near Space experts.

We use lighter-than-air gas balloons to travel to the upper stratosphere into Near Space, where you can see the curvature of the Earth (Flat Earth believers need not reply!), the black vacuum of space and the thin blue line of the Earth's atmosphere on the horizon.

This is more than just a GoPro on a weather balloon. We build a bespoke launch vehicle for each flight utilising the latest in camera technology and long-range radio and satellite communications. We film HD video of the Earth from space for stunning images of the curvature of the Earth.

With over 500 successful flights over the last 8 years, we're the only company to go to when you want to launch something into space. To find out more, visit https://www.sentintospace.com
