Little Boy’s Mispronunciation Has Mom And Dad In Stitches

Kids brains are like sponges - they are able to pick up everything that elders do and say. They say the easiest way of teaching a kid to do the right thing is to show it how it’s done, rather than telling the kid to do it, then do the exact opposite when the kid isn’t looking. However, this video is featuring a child who can’t make out the pronunciation of two totally different words. Was it a potato or tomato? What did his parents say? Having been able to repeat after his parents, does not help him either. Breaking the word to the tiniest syllables goes south, too. Saying the word at once, hasn’t proved helpful either.

Tomato, potato, it's all the same thing right? Well at least that's what this kid thinks! No matter how hard he tries or how his parents try to break down the word for him to understand, he hears tomato when he says potato! Will be ever be able to get it right? Actually, if you pay a close attention to these two words, you can see that they have similar pronunciation, Yes, to a grown-up person like us, it is totally clear that the beginning sounds for “potato” and “tomato” are different, indeed. Nevertheless, when pronounced quickly, they kind of sound the same. Maybe this is the reason why the boy can’t make out the difference. He will need some time and practice before he learns the correct sounds, at least he is trying. Hail to that! We are sure that he will master the words, if not at home, then at school. Who hasn’t learned not to mix them, right?!

We’ve all been there at one point or another – we might say “sympathy” (feeling sorry for someone else’s pain) when what we really mean is “empathy” (putting ourselves in their shoes), say something’s “ironic” (the opposite of what was intended) instead of just plain old funny, or continue our lifelong mispronunciation of the word “forte” (just say “fort”).

So show a little empathy for this cute little boy, who cannot for the life of him say the word “tomato,” even under Dad’s patient guidance. Or maybe it’s just early-onset contrariness.

After a bit more back and forth, Mom decides to give it a try, but to no avail. Whether the boy truly can’t grasp the concept of “tomato” or he’s just putting on a show to see Mom and Dad’s reactions — you can’t help but laugh at this!
