WHY I APPLIED FOR THE CHASE INK BUSINESS PREFERRED (CIBP)

1. Welcome Bonus
100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points = $1,250+ towards travel or $1,000 for cash back. That’s a nice profit after paying the $95 annual fee.

2. Potential Replacement to the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP)
I want to get the CSP again with a welcome offer (ideally with an 80K bonus), but to do that, I’ll need to downgrade existing my existing CSP to make that happen. That’s because Chase will not allow you to open a new Sapphire-branded credit card & get a bonus if you already have one open (also be aware of the Chase 5/24 Rule and Chase 48 Month Rule). The Chase Ink Business Preferred (CIBP) has identical transfer partners as the CSP and the same 25% greater point value for travel, which are the 2 main reasons why I have the CSP. So, by downgrading the CSP to the Chase Freedom Unlimited (CFU), I could still maintain those 2 benefits via the CIBP.

3. Pay Taxes & Business Expenses
Easy way to meet welcome offer spend requirement with these large expenses I have coming up.

4. Does Not Increase 5/24 Count
You must be below 5/24 to get approved, but getting approved will not increase your 5/24 count. Example: If you’re at 4/24 now, apply & get approved for the CIBP, then you’ll still be at 4/24 after.
