In this video, we’re going to talk about the #1 addictive drug in the world: caffeine.

More people are addicted to caffeine than heroin, cocaine, tobacco, and alcohol.

Caffeine is found in not just coffee but it is also in tea, cola, chocolate, sports drinks, and many other foods and drinks.

In small amounts, caffeine typically doesn’t have too many side effects. However, in large amounts, caffeine can cause:
• Heart palpitations
• Increased blood pressure
• Poor sleep
• Low vitamin B1
• Low calcium
• Increased anxiety

I have one small coffee each day. If I have any more, then I won’t be able to sleep.

If you have low vitamin B1 because of caffeine, it can help to take nutritional yeast.

87% of adults in the US drinks caffeinated beverages, which provide 165mg of caffeine each day.

There are some benefits of consuming caffeine.
1. Increased alertness
2. Increased sense of well-being
3. Fights off sleepiness during the day
4. Increases your sociableness

How does caffeine work? Caffeine works by blocking a chemical called adenosine. Adenosine makes you feel sleepy and relaxed.

If you’re going to drink coffee, it’s best to stick to organic coffee brands. Coffee is one of the most chemically treated products on the market. Only 3% of coffee is organic. Avoid non-organic coffee brands.
