In this video, we’re going to talk about the side effects of the drug Metformin. Metformin is a diabetic medication that is used to treat insulin resistance. It works by increasing the absorption of insulin in the receptor cells, and by blocking the liver from producing sugar.

Here are some of the side effects of Metformin:
• Diarrhea
• Headaches
• Heartburn
• Stomach cramps
• Lactic acidosis

Metformin was originally developed from the lilac flower, also known as goat’s rue. Goat’s rue has an active ingredient called guanidine that helps with insulin resistance, but also causes lactic acidosis.

Lactic acidosis is a toxic side effect that causes fatigue, weakness, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, vomiting, and even death. Metformin also comes with a black box warning, which is a very serious warning for a drug.

Vitamin B1 can help minimize the side effects of Metformin. Severe acidosis can be reversed by taking vitamin B1 within 24 hours.

Metformin blocks the absorption of vitamin B1, so it’s best to take it regularly while on Metformin to prevent any negative side effects. Nutritional yeast is an excellent source of vitamin B1. Keto and intermittent fasting can help correct the root cause of needing Metformin in the first place.
