Firing Government Employees Is Too Hard; the Constitution Intended for It to Be Easier

It’s hard to get rid of a career bureaucrat, even at the managerial level. “After you’ve been here for a year, it’s easier to kill you than fire you.” That’s what my co-workers at the Bureau of Labor Statistics would tell me on a sunny day, after we’d used up our lunch hour, but wanted to walk around the National Mall rather than go back to work. I was reminded of this when I learned that not one IRS employee has been so much as reprimanded for their role in making incredibly burdensome, intrusive, and unconstitutional demands for irrelevant information from non-profit groups critical of the government.

Trump and his allies outline the economic case for upending DC bureaucracy

Donald Trump’s widely expected 2024 campaign — which he could formally announce as early as this year — appears likely to focus on upending Washington's bureaucracy.

The former president and his allies would put thousands of government employees in their sights who are traditionally insulated from politics. On Tuesday, during a summit in Washington, Trump and his top political allies sketched out an economic component of their attacks on bureaucracy, targeting an old GOP villain: regulations.

Bipartisan House Bill Protects Funds for Hunting Education

Who said Republicans and Democrats can't find common ground in the House?

By a 424-1 margin, The House on Tuesday night approved the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act in response to the Biden administration's decision to block archery and hunting programs from receiving federal education funding. The only lawmaker to vote against the bill was Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas.

Fentanyl and related drugs are killing more people than guns and cars combined. Many victims don’t realize they’re even taking it

Lillianna Alfaro was a recent high school graduate raising a toddler and considering joining the Army when she and a friend bought what they thought was the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in December 2020.

Why men need to start being men again

“Australia’s ‘man drought’ is real — especially if you’re a Christian woman looking for love” was the attention-grabbing ABC headline that caught my eye a few days ago.

The story was about 32-year-old Anna Hitchings who expected to be married with children by now but hasn’t. She attributes this in a large part to there being a lack of men who share her Christian values.
