Central Park NYC Walking Tour Video | History of Central Park New York City Documentary
Please enjoy this Central Park NYC walking tour video and history of Central Park New York City documentary. This is walking tour of Central Park's Mall (the straight path in the middle of the park) covering the history of the statues (such as Shakespeare, Robert Burns, Walter Scott), the famous Bethesda Terrace and Arcade (where they filmed the Avengers), the general history of how Central Park was built, the most expensive hot dog stand, and the famous Bow Bridge.
Regardless of the season, Central Park - Manhattan's primary green area, and one of the top New York attractions, has a lot to offer in terms of entertainment. Some of the best things to do in Central Park happen in the fall and winter, which may surprise you. While tourists and locals alike enjoy Central Park's varied lawns, monuments, fountains, walking routes, trees, and picnic areas, the park also holds major events ranging from big summer concerts and theater performances to the yearly Winter Jam festival. There's always a reason to go, but in this video, we explore Central Park in Manhattan, New York City, and check out some of my favorite things to see and learn about.
As you will see in this Central Park NYC walking tour video, it’s one of the most famous urban parks in the world, covering an astounding 843 acres. In fact, if you're considering a vacation to New York City, it's almost certain to be on your list. Take out your itinerary and adjust your agenda if it isn't. You don't want to miss out on Central Park, since it may turn out to be the most thrilling aspect of your entire trip to New York.
Central Park is a favorite for many. People enjoy going on a bike ride on the Mall, taking a leisurely pedicab trip to Bethesda Terrace, having a picnic in Sheep Meadow, or simply hanging out at The Reservoir. But have you ever considered how all of this came to be? Manhattan was rapidly increasing in the early nineteenth century, with its population having increased fourfold, and residents were in desperate need of open areas for rest and pleasure. People were turning to cemeteries since such locations were so scarce. People were in desperate need of a park, and they were demanding one.
The city grid did not feature any major open spaces for recreational purposes, and the largest park at the time was Battery Park in southern Manhattan. The notion was supported by William Cullen Bryant and Andrew Jackson Downing. The construction work began in 1858, but because to the rocky, swampy environment, it was tough and time-consuming. Nearly 20,000 workers were involved in all stages of the project, which included some high-tech (at the time) steam-powered devices. Today, everything you see in Central Park is entirely man-made.
