The earthquake happened almost by the table, on June 22 at 01:25. It was the middle of night when the earthquake happened. - says Ismael from Afghanistan, a staff member of an independent international humanitarian organization who witnessed the aftermath of the earthquake.

JUNE 22, 2022
AFGHANISTAN: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck near the Durand Line separating Afghanistan and Pakistan. At least 1,500 people were killed and another 2,000 injured, making it the deadliest earthquake of 2022.

The next day my organization that I'm working with, MSF, decided to go there. We sent a medical team there, and they couldn't get there successfully.

One of the biggest problems is the road. Most of the roads have been destroyed, and it's really hard to get there by car, by vehicle and by other things.

…the homes of people were destroyed because these homes were really made in the mountainous area and these homes were not concreted. They were muddy homes.
So the people were living in this earth, and they were living in tents, and they needed the basic needs.

A great number of people have died in one day and night. 1000 people have lost lives.
It was not only the dead people, there were also people who were wounded, for example, 15 hundred or 16 hundred people were wounded.

The world is a home for us. It is not only for one country, that’s not for one organization. Everybody lives in the world. And when everybody lives in the world, they think this is the responsibility of everyone, not to harm the environment.

The positive contribution of the people in the world is important for this world because [for] one person… It could be difficult for one person to change the world. But if we are together, if we are united, we can positively change the world.

At least, if we cannot stop the earthquakes, if we cannot stop any other natural disasters, at least we can stop the man-made disasters.

All of this is our home. It will be better to live in a safe environment like everybody wants to go to heaven. Nobody wants to go to hell. So let's make the world a heaven, not a hell.
