Li Keqiang’s death is shocking news to the Chinese. They overwhelmingly refuse to believe that 68-year-old former premier died of heart attack. Li’s sudden death at a time when CCP politics are experiencing tremendous turmoil prompted various rumors and speculations about what had happened to the man who didn't see eye to eye with Xi Jinping. All sorts of conspiracy theories are circulating. I think people’s obsession isn’t about finding out what happened to Li Keqiang but demonstrating their lack of trust of anything their government says. They use the mourning to protest the establishment.
