Soul Funk

Do you ever feel that restlessness in your soul that actually makes you feel grouchy with that “whatever” kind of attitude. The culture we live in has clashing tides. The incoming tide bounces against the outgoing tide and the current in the middle of this transition can be so very disturbing. We can get in an incredible “soul funk” when the old tide is going out and God is bringing in something new.

Sometimes we have trouble moving from the old to the new because the enemy of our soul stirs up current and we get stuck in the rip tide created by his havoc. But, we can’t blame everything on the enemy of our soul, sometimes we are our worse enemy. We just don’t want to leave our comfort zone. We like where we are, we feel comfortable in the flow that we are in. God says to us: “I have something new for you, follow Me into this Great God Adventure” and we who resist change will say: “Whatever”… we get an attitude in our soul that does not want to hear about new things and we tune God out.

When God has something new for us, we need to resist the “soul funk” of “whatever” attitudes. This kind of attitude is what stirs up most of our bad current when the old is going out and the new tide is coming in. This is a time like no other time in history where we have to settle it… settle what… settle our “soul funk” by making a decision to give God total access of our lives, to be wholly-holy His and move with the flow of His Kingdom tide, in followship of His Voice.

So many times we follow the wrong voice. We need to know God’s Voice, tighten up our vital-vertical relationship with Him and tune out all other voices and listen up to Him. The goal for us is to obey God the first time He asks, to step out in faith. Many times we hear things in our mind and many times it isn’t God saying them. To bring our thoughts into subjection to God and His living Word, the best course is when a thought pops into your mind, especially when you are traversing the currents from old to new things, the best thing to do is take that thought captive: “Who Said That” ask yourself, did God say that? Would God say that?

During times of transitions, we must align our thoughts with God’s Word. Did God say that? If we press through the negative current with the power of the truth as we face life transitions, then we will stay in followship of Jesus as He ushers in the new tide of a Great God Adventure that will challenge us and change our lives in ways only He can. Don’t Miss Out. Yield To God. Shake off the “soul funk” of a “whatever” attitude and swim against the cultural tide in the strength and power of God. No more “soul funk” enjoy your Great God Adventure. Have fun! God bless ya.
