What an awesome day 2 at the Ultimate Scale Truck Expo - USTE. The weather was fantastic at 70 degrees and sunny. The day started with a show and shine for Vintage Buggies, Monster Trucks, and Mud Trucks. I brought out a few of my trucks and ended up winning a "Monster Truck Best of Show - Shafty" award. I overhear the judges going back and forth between my truck and Jeremy from Big Squid's Bigfoot. He really did a cool job with his and scaled out the interior and deserved it as well.

I really have to credit Josh Zimmerman, Garret Binder, and Josh Rhodes for my truck. Zimmerman's Freestyle RC ZEI Chassis, transmission, and axles are just stunning. Garret's driver really added that nice scale touch, and Josh Rhodes hooked me up last minute with his completed Bigfoot body I could used to complete that Bigfoot 11 look. I was more of the assembly guy and painted the engine and driver.

After the show and shine they went to 2wd Vintage Buggy racing followed by the 4wd. The track was awesome for these things and it looked like a ton of fun. Then it moved on to monster truck racing....and what a hoot it was. I ran my LMT Son-uva digger and it really was fun on that tight track. The steering in the LMT is awesome and really let me whip those hairpin corners. I won my first heat (which doesn't matter as there weren't awards) which let me race one more time. Came out fast, but Dustin Spallone was faster :). I got tangled up and tried too hard to catch up which meant I was all over the track...and off it. haha.

Around lunch I had the honor of crawling with the 11 Charlie RC group of veterans. For some of them it was the first time doing an RC trail run and hearing them having a blast was awesome. Keep doing what you are doing Javier and I'll keep supporting.

I took my Redcat Gen8 V2 Scout on the trail with them and was really impressed with how it handled after the small upgrades I made to it. The Hobbywing 1080 ESC and Nitro Hobbies Creeper Crawler 16t 5-slot motor was really smooth and allowed for great control. My Reefs Triple 5 servo was very precise and offered lots of turning power to let me point the truck wherever I wanted it to go. Even with the big stock body on, it handled really well and I enjoyed driving it...a lot.

Then it was time for the mud drags. The mud was THICK...if it was mud...and not manure. It was tough to get anywhere without sinking. I had a really good run but my truck did run all over as the mud pulled it where it wanted and I tried to steer it where I could. Again, just for fun and bragging rights.

The mud run was topped off with Jeremy Griffith doing a belly flop into the mud. Classic!

I ended the day on the trail with Joe from Exocaged RC and Rich and Dustin from JConcepts. That will be a standalone video as this one got pretty long.
