When we heard of the story, we kicked into gear and started a "public interest" letter campaign. And the community came together to take action.

The judge cruelly sentenced Janice to jail for 45 days. Allain served 5 days in jail and was sentenced to house arrest for the remainder of his time. That meant that he could not see Janice, and every phone call he made to the jail cost them money that they don’t have. What purpose did this serve other than to further punish this couple?

We are thrilled to announce Allain and Janice are both at home, serving out the remainder of a 45-day sentence together.

In more good news, a motion to appeal has been filed that includes habeas corpus! We are not sure what will be become of this, but we will test the courts and see what happens.
