Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has agreed to testify in a public hearing before the House Oversight Committee. However, Republicans swiftly rejected this proposal. In a letter addressed to committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) on Tuesday, Biden's attorneys quoted Comer's own previous demand from November. They highlighted that given Biden's willingness to address the investigation publicly thus far, it is only reasonable to expect him to be willing to testify before Congress.

The attorneys emphasized that an open-door hearing would ensure transparency and prevent any manipulation of information through selective leaks, altered transcripts, doctored exhibits, or biased press statements. Despite these assurances, Republicans remained steadfast in their opposition. In response, Comer issued a statement criticizing Hunter Biden for attempting to follow his own set of rules instead of adhering to the requirements imposed on everyone else. House Republicans are resolute in their stance and will not accept this approach.
