The young Sahibzadey were bricked alive and attained martyrdom at the age of 5 and 7.
The young Sahibzadey were bricked alive and attained martyrdom at the age of 5 and 7.
These two young brave souls, aged 5 and 7, were not scared, tempted or lured to give up their faith. Instead they laughed and smiled and accepted death, rather than give up their priceless Sikhi.

That person alone is known as a spiritual hero, who fights in defense of religion. He or she may be cut apart, piece by piece, but they never leave the field of battle. ||2||2||
(Maroo, Ang 1105, Sri Guru Granth Sahib)
Every year 25th December is celebrated with much pomp and shown as Christmas Day to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is the Son of God. But the stories of valour and supreme sacrifice have never been discussed that have been shown by the Sikh community. Shri Guru Gobind Singh, who was born on December 22, 1666, in Patna in present-day Bihar, to Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, and Mata Gujri, showed valour and courage to safeguard the country and the religion but many of us are not aware about. Though the sacrifice of Guru ji and his family must have been revered and discussed specially around this time of the year but we often overlook it either because of sheer ignorance or we have not been told about it. Essentially the entire week started from 21st December onwards must be discussed and the events unfolded during this time needs to be discussed. Therefore, this brief informative write-up will make you aware of an exemplary sacrifice, which rarely finds discussion in the world:
December 21
Shri Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last Sikh Guru, left the ‘Shri Anand Pur Sahib fort’ with family.
December 22
Gunga Brahmin, who was a cook in Guru Sahib’s house, brought the mother of Guru ji and his two younger sons along with him whereas Guru ji himself reached the ground of Chamkaur with his two elder sons. Thereupon the battle of Chamkaur started and the elder son of Guru Sahib Ajit Singh, 17 years old and the younger son Jujhar Singh, 14 years old and their 11 other companions martyred in the battlefield while protecting the religion and the country from the enemies.
December 23
Gunga Brahmin first robbed the jewellery from Guru Sahib's mother Mata Gujri and his younger sons and then informed them about Chaudhari Gani Khan and Mani Khan and got them arrested. Doing as per the advice of his friends, Guruji left the battlefield of Chamkaur.
December 24
Both the younger sons of Guru ji and Mata Gujri were shifted to Sirhind and were kept captive in a cold turret.
December 25 & 26
Younger sons of Guru ji were presented in the court of Nawab Wazir Khan and they were lured to change their religion. But Wazir Khan and his Mughal Empire could not respond to the questions of younger sons of Guru ji.
December 27
The younger sons of Guru ji Zorwar Singh and Fateh Singh were tortured by Mughals and the fatwa (religious decree) was issued against them. They were buried alive in the wall and their throat slit to kill them barbarically. After listening to their martyrs, Mata Gujri gave up her life.
Now you decide whether attention should be given on the unique and perhaps the world's first example of supreme sacrifice or onto the Christmas on 25th December.
Please share about this incident to aware more and more people about the martyr week so that people must know the foundations of Sikhism.
