Episode 101: Henry Kissinger and Israel
8.23K
This week's show evaluates the record of Henry Kissinger, who died last month. He was one of the most influential US statesmen of the 20th century, and as a hardcore Zionist, he shamelessly used his position to manipulate the US into providing unequivocal support to Israel.
Kissinger was incredibly Machiavellian, but unlike his modern-day equivalents, he wasn’t stupid. Russian President Vladimir Putin said Kissinger was a “wise and far-sighted statesman.” And Chinese President Xi Jinping said he respected him. But although he helped to calm Cold War tensions in the 1960s and 70s, Kissinger was also the architect of some of the 20th century's worst human rights abuses and war crimes.
