Winter might bring snow for those who dream of the wonderland experience, but snow also brings along harsh temperatures that can cause terrible damages to your house and utilities. Everything that can soak up water can also freeze to the point of cracking, but what we are most concerned about are the pipes in our house. The run in our walls and under our houses, which means that they will surely freeze up and are under the thread of bursting open.

But not if you follow these simple tips that will keep your pipes strong and healthy, while you enjoy the wonders of winter.

First of all, you should always make sure to let your faucets drip a drop at a time. It will keep water flowing in your pipes and it will never freeze inside.

Make sure to keep the temperature inside your home at 60 Fahrenheit at all times, even when you are not at home.

Leave the cabinet doors open under your sink. It will let warm air near the pipes, which in turn will keep the water above freezing temperatures.

Also, be sure to change the air filters of your AC units every three months and be sure to never use your oven to heat the place. The oven doesn’t keep a stable temperature in your house, not to mention how volatile and super expensive it is!
